The drive is working fine but it's incredibly noisy for an external drive. Oh and it's making these awful clicking sounds. These are not just normal read/write sounds either it's loud audible clicking noise. Perhaps it' a defective unit? Either way I'm not happy about it.

Really well made! I have this on my remote Linux home server for backing up my office server. It was easy to configure for non-Mac application. It's really quite and cool. Only complaint is the white LED is really bright at night...but is in my office so not a real big deal. Highly recommend.

1 day -- 1 stinking lousy day -- after the sellers return window expired the drive died.

Oh, it still powers on. And the discs still click like mad. But it won't mount and the system does not recognize that it is even there. The disc utility can't even see it. Goodbye to all the data I had backed up onto it.

Hitachi used to be a good name in hard drives. Apparently, they no longer manufacture products of the quality I was used to expecting from them.
